Sway

For those who are tired of both PowerPoint and Prezi, Microsoft has introduced an alternative presentation program into their Office line-up known as Sway. This software is designed to be a user-friendly platform for designing cinematic presentations that are controlled by either scrolling or swiping, or to proceed like a traditional slideshow. The three layouts also include a right-to-left option. A variety of style options are offered, ranging from sleek and sophisticated to those appropriate for elementary classrooms. Customization options are also available if you'd like to utilize your school colors, or if you'd like to insert pictures, rearrange text, or even implement scrolling text over an image background.

If you'd like to see more of Sway's features, check out this "How To" guide provided by Microsoft. Some of these features include:

  • Inserting forms for interactive quizzes
  • Embedding Tweets
  • Creating photo grids to compactly display pictures
  • And so much more!

Best of all: it's both desktop and mobile-friendly. The latter is important to consider for students who may only have smartphone access at home, rather than computers, tablets, or laptops. Neither PowerPoint nor Prezi are particularly mobile-friendly, which can limit accessibility, but Sway makes sure to address this concern by allowing you to preview your Sway presentation as it would be viewed on a mobile device.
