My daughter
began using prodigy last year when she was in second grade. Her teacher gave
out a code to the classroom and they could each play in class during preset
times and at home. The class was able to see each other in the game, interact
and compete for the top spot. In order to play they had to do math problems to
cast spells and win battles. They could battle each other or just complete boards
/levels in the game to get to the next level.
As a parent I loved prodigy because it made math fun for my daughter and
she played almost every day. I’m sure my daughter’s teacher loved prodigy
because it helped reinforce math principles she was teaching in the classroom
and I’m sure my daughter loved prodigy because she was able to play an online
game with her friends that was both fun and competitive. My daughter did however
outgrow prodigy this year. While she played she competed against and played
with kids she knew and had fun. Prodigy did make math fun for her and she
learned a lot from it. Prodigy does have different membership options however
there are free options for general use.
