Plickers
Plickers is a tool that allows teachers to collect assessment data without the need for students to have devices out--such as cellphones, tablets or computers. Plickers allows students to engage and participate in the classroom. How does it work? Each student is given a card with a unique visual code. Each card has 4 sides lettered A, B, C, and D. When the teacher asks a question the students then hold up the card so the letter they choose is at the top of their card. Then, the teacher scans the room with one device (cellphone) and Plickers is able to read each students' visual code. Teachers get feedback automatically. This tool allows teachers to collect formative assessments easily and quickly. Also, it allows teachers to know whether students are understanding the material. As a future mathematics teacher, I see myself using this tool as an exit ticket to get a quick formative assessment on how well the students understood the material.
