Apple's Next: 7

iPhone 7 Release

In terms of technology, the standard of cell phones is accelerating at a pace that is becoming difficult to keep up with. The iPhone has evolved into a form of technology that even stumps me now, a person who is deemed a part of the “electronic generation.”  When it comes down to the evolvement of the iPhone over the years and its vast improvements, there lies a lack of interest in upgrading your phone continuously. There is a huge hassle that goes along with switching phones: syncing issues, data transfer time, learning how to use the new phone, and more.

So why would you want to update to Apple’s new release of the iPhone 7? The changes are quite possibly worth the investment and time. The new iPhone 7 consists of many of its previous 6 and 6 plus features, however, one of the main changes to the phone is the headphone port, or lack thereof. As we go over the changes to the newest version of the iPhone, we can see the good, the bad, and the ugly of the update as informed by CNET reviews. CNET Review

The improvements are small, but significant: clearer imaging camera on both front and back, longer lasting battery, and the main focus for me - the water resistance - finally! On one hand, you may be thinking to yourself, this is not that big of a deal; get a water proof phone case. Here’s the thing: not all cases are that attractive. If you are looking for attractiveness, plus safety, you’re not going to find it. So, when it comes down to the designer, the decision to create a dual action phone is incredible. The main problem I see with the phone is the lack of the headphone jack, since I use my headphones to connect with my phone to workout consistently, although this is just another reason to invest in those wireless beats, am I right?

All in all, the iPhone 7 is a better version of the iPhone. Every time there is a new update, the headlines list the pros and cons, variously stating how it hasn’t even changed practically from how it was one step before. Whether you’re an Apple junkie or not, the iPhone 7 is an option that has substantial potential. In reality, there are so many reasons why technology as a whole has advanced and why we should invest in more advancing technology that is happening around us. The communication, connections, and broad options that are possible with technology in our current world are endless. Although, there is always going to be the negative aspect of being “hooked to your phone” along with the atrocious texting and driving phenomena.

Where are we headed, throughout all of this deliberate creating, updating, enhancing? Where are we moving in terms of technological advancing? In terms of Apple and their iPhone updates, it looks promising and Steve Jobs would be proud. As for the rest of us, are we meant to move along with the crowd, regularly downloading the newest app, sending a text rather than calling, and being dependent on our phones for almost everything in our lives? The iPhone isn’t something that our lives depend on, it is a creation of imaginary abstract thought, meshed together into a wonderful, yet sometimes unsettlingly intelligent device.
