Stack the States is an awesome app for teachers to
provide their students with as a resource for learning all about the United
States of America. In this app, there are many games to choose from that allow
students to have fun while learning where the states are located, their shapes,
and what their capitols are. Through colorful graphics and images of familiar
landscapes, students are excited to tap this app on their iPhone or iPad to choose
between different pictures of states when answering questions about which
states share a border and as they get correct answers, they stack their chosen
states on top of another until they complete levels to “earn” new states. These
states could be compared to badges one would receive before moving up to the
next level. They can view all of the states they unlock and watch them pop up
on the map in their correct location, helping the students memorize where the
states are located. This pattern allows students to learn even more about the
United States of America, like their nicknames, abbreviations, and flags. This
app would be incredibly helpful for students and will benefit teachers who
provide the app as a resource because students will spend more time learning
about this topic through an entertaining and unique format. With flash cards,
progress tracking, and high-resolution photos, students can expect to learn
everything they need to know about the United States of America in a way that
makes them forget they are studying!
