The
Smithsonian Learning lab is an excellent classroom resource. It is interactive
and meaningful. It’s filled with pictures videos and reliable content that is
safe for kids. It’s great for kids because when you search for a topic the
results are pictures not lists which helps children to quickly identify what it
is they are looking for or what is most interesting to them. There are over a
million artifacts in the Smithsonian Learning lab for children to explore. I
love this resource because you can create and share all within the website as
well. You can create lessons for the children to go in and research and
complete. The filter feature in great in really getting you what you are looking
for. You can search through the archives and find resources that are currently
on display in ,museums, this I like because it’s like visiting a museum all
while sitting in your classroom. Resources are not always available to go to a museum;
however this is a great resource to spark curiosity and interests in children. Using
the resources in the learning lab children can create their own projects and
collections of the resources they find as well.
