Incredible English

Incredible English is an English learning program for students on the primary level. It comes from Oxford University, and is designed to introduce students to English language learning. I was first introduced to this program when I lived in Spain, and worked part time as a language assistant in an elementary school. All the students in every grade level worked with this program. The curriculum was interactive and used through a touch board. Students also had a hard copy of a workbook to follow along with each lesson. Incredible English has a website outside of the program from the Oxford University Press. On this website, students can find material related to the program. There are songs, games, printouts, and stories they can interact with. It’s a great way to continue English practice outside of the classroom

Each lesson starts off with a short story, and introduces vocabulary and a level appropriate lesson. Students watch the story on the board, and when it is finished, a few questions are asked. The teacher can decide if they would like the students to come up to the board, or have them answer from their seats. The characters are consistent, and students get to expand their knowledge with a familiar routine. I found this a fun way to keep students engaged, and look forward to what will happen next. I like that this English curriculum is tied together with a storyline of cartoon characters. Foreign language learning can be stressful, and sometimes students don't take a real interest in it. This program makes the learning fun, and incorporates technology to facilitate the lesson.
