Edmodo

Edmodo is an  educational website similar to google classroom that offers communication, collaboration, and coaching platforms to K-12 schools and teachers. The Edmodo network enables teachers to share content, distribute quizzes, assignments, and manage communication with students, colleagues, and parents. It allows students and teachers to reach out to one another and connect by sharing ideas, problems, and helpful tips.

The big question for teachers is how can they start an Edmodo account for their classroom? To create a free Edmodo network account, they need to go to www.edmodo.com and click the “I'm a Teacher” button. When clicking that the teacher creates an account by putting their information in and creating a password. After creating that account, they are able to create a profile, add a picture, create courses, manage notifications, and send group “add” codes, so their students can join their course. Teachers should encourage students to select how they want to send and receive emails and text messages as well as to upload a profile picture.

For students, it helps them to stay motivated, show their accomplishments, and push themselves to learn and increase their practice time on new material. It allows students to have one-on-one discussions or debates with classmates, allows them to call on their classmates for answers, ask questions to the teacher, and play games to illustrate lessons. With Edmodo, teachers can bring their classroom online. With the ability to give assignments, quizzes and polls to students, they can manage their classes and consolidate all of their activities in one place. They also have unlimited options in terms of sharing digital content. Edmodo has many useful features designed to complement different types of courses. It allows the use of sharing information, group work, mobile notifications, grading assignments directly on the website, and able to control and visually see conversations on the website. Its a helpful website that makes school easier for teachers and students.
