PhotoMath

PhotoMath is an app for phones that allows the user to utilize their phone for futher understanding of math processes as well as checking math problems that are already done.
The student or teacher uses their smartphone, and holds the phone over either a handwritten or typed math problem.
The PhotoMath app uses the smartphone camera and scans the problem, calculates the math process and figures out the answer. Steps to find the answer are also given.

This is a very helpful app, both for teachers and students. If a student is stuck on a problem, they can work through the steps to find understanding of how to work through the math process. The student can also check their work to make sure they are doing the problems correctly. Teachers can use this app to quickly show students how to work through math problems.
Some issues with this app are that students can use it to cheat and do their homework for them. Also, the app is not failproof; sometimes it scans incorrectly, or figures incorrectly and arrives at the wrong answer. There is a correcting calculator included in the app to refigure the steps and double-check your work. Overall, students I have asked and worked with enjoy the PhotoMath app, and I find it both useful and easy to use as a teacher.
