Mad Libs are a super fun and interactive way for students to practice reading, writing, and other ELA skills studied in the classroom. When I was in Elementary School Mad Libs were available at book stores and they looked just like regular chapter books were you would actually write in them. Today, there is a free app for Mad Libs and that is the technology aspect for this post. On the app, you pick a story line and then you get a blank space with noun, adjective, etc written underneath it. Once you get through all of the blanks, your story pops up for you to read. Also on the app, you can save your story or share it with your friends. In a classroom once students finish they could share it with their classmates so they can see the different words they used versus the words others had used. Along with the app, there are also websites that you can print off Mad Lib sheets from free of charge. Even though the students will be learning ELA skills while doing these activities, they will also be having fun and may learn about some technology aspects too.
Try it out!
