Prepexpert

Image result for prepexpert
Standardized testing is a focal point in today's world of education.  Some people would give any amount of money to get into the college of their choice.  Well, now you can with Prepexpert.  Prepexpert is an online training course for high school students that want to do as best as they can on test like the SAT and the ACT.  Classes are offered online and in person.  Prepexpert can be used for tutoring and consulting services too.  The consulting services are for schools to see what they can do better to prepare there students for these exams.  Now the horrible part about Prepexpert.  The cheapest class that I could find on their website was $799.  However,  Prepexpert does offer a 200 point increase guarantee.  They offer in person tutoring sessions as well but, only in select settings.  So, if you want your kids to get the highest scores they can and have the extra $800, Prepexpert sounds like a perfect way to go.

GoNoodle

I was introduced to GoNoodle last winter in one of my practicum experiences and again this winter semester. The classroom I am in currently is a preschool room where they use the GoNoodle website and last winter I was in a classroom of first graders. Both loved the website, and were very excited to be able to use it. GoNoodle is a easy website where teachers can sign up for free and play mini videos for their students that focuses on physical activity and interactive learning. There are many videos for the teacher to choose from, including educational. I really enjoyed this website because it gives the students a little brain break and allows them to get active, get out of their seats, and release some energy, no matter the weather outside. I also enjoy how you could use this website to introduce new topics to the students in a fun different way that is exciting. I would definitely recommend this website to any teacher teaching the younger grades, they will love it.

Ducksters

Ducksters Educational Site

Ducksters

Ducksters is an educational website intended for students of all ages. Ducksters has a variety of games that include every school subject which makes it easy for students to learn at home whenever they're struggling with a certain subject. Some games are educational such as math or social studies, and some games are for fun such as typing or arcade; so this is a win-win situation for kids! On the bottom of the website, there are multiple topics, such as World History, US History, Science, Biographies, Math, and Geography, that can be clicked to view an informative article for students to read and learn about. This is a great feature because if students, for instance, are confused about what they're learning in social studies or science class, they can be able to learn about it at home on this safe website. Their articles are simplified so these students can understand and can be easily remembered. With these articles, they can apply what they learned by playing the games right after since they have tons of games targeting each subject. On iTunes, parents are able to purchase educational history books created by Ducksters for their children; this is one part that I like about this website because they're able to read and learn on the go.

Each specific grade has an endless range of games in order for students to learn and apply their math skills. Math Playground has a mobile site which includes over 150 games and is currently adding new additional games frequently. Now, students can have fun learning while playing these games on their digital device. Math Playground is a great educational website for students and teachers because not only are there games to test the student's knowledge but there's also math videos for students to learn a concept or to have a better understanding of the concept. These math videos are very helpful because if the students are stuck on something outside of school, they'll have this website as a reference. I think this is a great website because it is safe and it'll encourage these kids to learn math through these games.

Hopscotch

Hopscotch

An app that is designed for ages 8+, an app that allows children to advance in their education. It works in three different ways code, publish, and play. If the coding teachers and parents will feel the ease coding with the children.  They have the freedom to make whatever they want. After every game that they play, the children receive feedback on the games. The games are educational based, and the children are learning with peers in a safe moderated environment.  To find the right path for your kid, the children have the freedom to make things that appeal to them. The support at any level is about the self-paced video tutorials that teach children coding through making popular games like Pokeman Go, Geometry Dash. This app is free and can be downloaded on any type of phone or tablet. In my opinion I believe this app is a beneficial for students and parents, because it is something fun that both can enjoy.

Storyline online is an amazing source for students and teachers. This is a site that streams videos of celebrities reading animated stories out loud. It could be used in class, to transition the beginning/end of the day or throughout a lesson plan. The students may also reach this site at home by just typing Storyline Online. The students may then choose any book they wish to read, and it's as easy as that. Children relentlessly watch superheroes and family comedies with many talented actors. When watching these storylines online it's exciting for the children to watch those exact actor read out loud. Those actors may also set an excellent example for the students and encourages them to read more. There are hundreds of books that could be chosen from A-Z. These books are filled with the intention to “strengthen comprehension and verbal and written skills for English-language learners.”

Powerschool

PowerSchool is a way for teachers, parents, and students to interact throughout the school year. Teachers get the opportunity to use this website and app as a way to post students grades. Parents and students each have their own log in. The parent log in is different than the students because they get to contact the teacher directly through the website, whereas students only get to access their classes and grades. This is useful because it is easy for the students, parents, and teachers to access. Also, parents can access their one account for all of their kids. Each child will be under one parent account so that the parent doesn't need to log in more than once. However, each child gets their own log in so that they can only access their grades. Link to Powerschool

Brain Pop

Brain pop is a group of educational websites. This is designed for students k-12. There are over 1,000 short animated videos, quizzes and related materials covering all topics. This is available with free content but like just about everything to get full access you need to make a subscription. This website can also be downloaded as an app for mobile devices. This app allows students to practice skills they have learned or are learning in class. In my opinion this is a great tool. It gives students the chance to sharpen their knowledge of things they are working on in school. The only downside I see to this is the subscription. One might subscribe to this for their child and their child would never use it. That would be money lost for something. Overall this can be a very great tool for students.

Chromebooks

As technology keeps rising more and more teachers are starting to use technology in their classrooms. One type of technology being used is Chromebooks. These are small, basic laptops. Like any laptop they can hook to the internet, operate Microsoft office, and so much more. Teachers are bringing these in to their classrooms for students to use for projects, papers and even for everyday lecture. They can be used in just about every class. The chromebooks can be sold in cases of 10 to 30. They often come with a storage case. The priced range from $500 to over $1000. Personally, I think these are a great addition to a classroom or a school. I remember when I was in grade school we had about 4 cases of chromebooks and the teacher had to sign them out for the class. Each student would be assigned one to use and we could use it to work on our projects. I always thought it was so cool being able to use a laptop in class. The students would love the chance to interact with technology and gain more skills using it. The only down side could be the price. However, they can be shared, one school could buy a case or more of them and the teachers would simply have to reserve them. Overall chromebooks should definitely be apart of any classroom.

ZipGrade

Grading scantrons cant be easier than this. Technology has brought us the comfort of grading scantrons at home. You no longer have to wait in line for the machine to be free to use it to grade your 30 scantrons. I was introduced to this by my mother who is also a teacher. She never liked grading so she searched and searched and found "name." She was so happy as she found an easier and faster way to grade tests. And the scantrons provided don't even have to be bought, they can be printed right off your phone or laptop. They are very easy to follow. So you give the exams to the students as you normally would and the provided scantrons. When they finish and it's time for grading, you simply open the app on your phone, take a picture of the scantron, and allow for grading. Ofcourse you need to provide an answer key for comparison. And before hand the class is inputed into the app to automatically record grades into its system. This new way of grading allows you to spend more time at home, less time are school and less time grading and inputting.
