Barnyard Math
Math can be a difficult subject for many students, they tend to act apprehensive towards the subject and often find themselves struggling to understand the material. When a student enjoys what they learn, they are more likely to put forth the necessary effort to understand and learn the material at hand. There are ways to help students to enjoy what they are learning, including apps that are based on gaming. I came across Barnyard Math which is a challenge geared towards 1st graders. Addition and subtraction are the strong-suits in this technology, but the concept behind the idea is to be able to grasp mathematical problems in a more positive light. Barnyard math allows students to learn math while creating their own "barn" and can move up in levels with every correct answer. This material can be used online as a website or as an app in iPads and iPhones specifically. There are also options to have this on android devices as well.
